Hi, I'm the golden tea. The others say it's just because of my rich yellowy orange colour (but hey, I'm not the one who made the name up - I think it's because I'm pretty damn delicious).
We haven't met before, but by the time I'm finished, you're going to be glad we have.
Here's how the game goes, I'll tell you a little bit about myself and, if you stay reading until the end, I'll leave you a little something to move this relationship on a little.
It all starts with Turmeric (aka Curcuma Longa). Turmeric is a modern day superhero spice that has been used in India for thousands of years. Curcumin is the main active ingredient in turmeric, and the unique properties of this spice may help soothe a multitude of inflammatory problems and alleviate symptoms. Chronic inflammation contributes to many common Western diseases and Curcumin can suppress molecules known to play major roles within inflammation.
Next up, Lemon Balm. Not only will this calming herb help reduce headaches, but it can also suppress feelings of nervousness and fatigue. Oh and did I mention...it's fragrance is absolutely divine! Through polyphenolic rich extracts Lemon Balm may also provide cellular protection...and it's considered to have some antimicrobial/ antiseptic benefits.
We all know the legendary Chamomile. Chamomile is considered beneficial in reducing inflammation and pain. Not only is it loaded with antioxidants that play a role in lowering your risk of several diseases, it also aids sleep and digestion.
The G in Ginger is for Great. Not only is ginger used for treatment in motion sickness (next time you take a road trip, try adding a side of me to your luggage). It also stimulates phase II enzyme Glutathione Transferase (GT) which may help in the prevention of some tumours. It's power does not stop there...Ginger soothes the body due to its anti-inflammatory benefits and may help relieve muscle aches post exercise.
I know, I sound pretty awesome huh? But it doesn't stop there, I'm also made up of...
Lemongrass - This plant is packed with antioxidants that help in detoxifying and cleansing from within. It's also a powerful medicine to help with stomach pains and digestion problems.
Licorice root - The powerful properties in Licorice root may help to cure a multitude of digestive symptom complaints such as stomach ulcers, ongoing inflammation of the stomach lining and heartburn.
Calendula - These flowers are considered to have cytotoxic properties that aid in discouraging cancer, such as tumours. Not only is it a powerful anti-inflammatory but it has also been used topically for skin wounds - healing your body inside and out.
All of my ingredients are organic, contain none of the nasties, and I'm made right here in Australia.
So...now you know all about me, are you ready to be soothed? That's what I thought.
