So, What's Your Hygge?

Ok, I know what you're thinking...what the heck is hygge (and how do you even say it), well kick your feet up, grab a cuppa and lets get down to it. 

Whilst in the midst of winter when many of us find that we go to work in the dark and return home in the dark. It’s hardly surprising then that the term “the winter blues” set in.

Dreams of the summer holidays - lying on the beach, wearing a bikini or pretty summer dress instead of multiple layers topped with a beany to keep warm can feel like a lifetime away.

But, the Norwegians’ and Danes have created a wonderful mindset to help them cope with challenges like the winter blues. A concept that has been around since the 1800s, they call it Hygge (pronounced Hue guh). It simply means to create wellness for yourself.

To practice Hygge you need to think about what you love, what makes you feel happy, secure, warm and contented. Then the fun thing is to surround yourself with those wonderful comforts. The essence is to choose simple pleasures. Then share your ideas with your friends and family!
